The Apache News Round-up: week ending 24 April 2015

After wrapping up a successful ApacheCon, Hackathons, BarCampApache, MeetUps, PGP keysigning, Project Geode Lab, Ignite Training, CloudStack Days, Spark Forum, Traffic Server Summit, and more, our community accomplished much over the past week! Here's what's happened:

Apache Calcite (Incubating) –a dynamic data management framework whose cost-based optimizer converts queries, represented in relational algebra, into executable plans.

Apache CloudStack™ –mature, easy-to-deploy Open Source Cloud computing software platform.

Apache Commons™ Math –a library of lightweight, self-contained mathematics and statistics components addressing the most common problems not available in the Java programming language or Commons Lang.

Apache HttpComponents™ Client –a library for client-side HTTP communication built on HttpCore. It provides connection management, cookie management, and authentication. This is the successor to the widely used Jakarta Commons HttpClient 3.1.

Apache Jackrabbit™ Oak –a scalable, high-performance hierarchical content repository designed for use as the foundation of modern world-class Web sites and other demanding content applications.

Apache MyFaces™ Core –a JavaServer Faces 2.2 implementation as specified by JSR-344.
 - MyFaces Core v2.2.8 released http://myfaces.apache.org/download.html

Apache Olingo™ –offers libraries in Java and JavaScript that enable developers to implement OData producers and OData consumers.
 - Apache Olingo OData Client 4.0.0 for JavaScript released http://olingo.apache.org/doc/javascript/download.html

Apache OpenWebBeans™ –a CDI container (Contexts and Dependency Injection for Java) and targets the CDI-1.2 specification (JavaEE 7).

Apache Parquet (Incubating) –a set of Java libraries for working with the Parquet column-oriented file format for Apache Hadoop.

Apache Sentry (Incubating) –a system to enforce fine grained role based authorization to data and metadata stored on a Hadoop cluster.

Apache Solr™ –an Open Source enterprise search server based on the Lucene Java search library, with XML/HTTP and JSON, Ruby, and Python APIs, hit highlighting, faceted search, caching, replication, and a web administration interface.

Apache Tika™ –a toolkit for detecting and extracting metadata and structured text content from various documents using existing parser libraries.
